Alevistar Legal Search has been retained by a growing plaintiff personal injury and mass tort law firm headquartered in Conshohocken, PA. They are seeking a dynamic and strategic Chief Operating Officer (COO) to lead operational initiatives, drive firmwide efficiency, and support their continued growth. The COO will report directly to the firm's Managing Partner. 



The firm is offering a HIGHLY competitive compensation package for this leadership role, reflecting both the level of responsibility and the importance of the COO to the firm's long-term success.



Firmwide Projects and Areas of Responsibility:

A. Practice Group Optimization

  • Rationalize workflows, processes, and staffing to improve efficiency and ensure staff understand prioritization and productivity.
  • Develop and implement KPIs to measure litigation team productivity.
  • Conduct periodic check-ins (e.g., weekly) with each practice group to foster accountability and understand pain points.
  • Work with practice group leaders to project manage group-specific initiatives.
  • Improve data reliability and organization within practices.

B. Data & Technology

  • Help manage the data/tech team to ensure best practices for tools, data governance, and vendor relationships.
  • Ensure consistent and accurate reporting of KPIs for both internal use and lender requirements.

C. Firm Leadership & HR

  • Establish a Senior Management Team (SMT), define reporting lines, and create an organizational chart.
  • Audit all practices to design optimal incentive plans tailored to each group and the SMT.
  • Oversee headcount reporting and budgeting; ensure efficient allocation of resources.
  • Manage administrative responsibilities including office organization and non-legal staff oversight.
  • Develop and implement a firmwide employee feedback process.

Goals of the COO Role:



A: Strategic Planning & Project Management



  • Collaborate on strategic planning and implementation of firmwide projects.
  • Finalize the scope of firmwide projects and goals.
  • Set achievable timelines and lead project management of agreed-upon goals, potentially in conjunction with the Senior Management Team (SMT).


B: External and Internal Stakeholder Management



  • Serve as the primary liaison with the firm’s lender.
  • Ensure accurate reporting of KPIs to the lender.


C: Organizational Design & Efficiency



  • Determine optimal organizational structure for the firm.
  • Enable practice heads to achieve efficient staffing, incentivize their teams, and analyze performance in real time.


D: Financial & Operational Health



  • Improve reporting reliability and financial stability of the firm.
  • Assist with budgeting, finance, vendor management, and settlement processing.


E: Innovation & Continuous Improvement



  • Originate ideas and suggest creative, practical solutions based on external experience.
Ideal candidate will have 5+ years of related experience at a law firm or other professional services organization, excellent communication and computer skills. as well as a Bachelor's degree or higher level of education.
