National
employment and labor law firm, is seeking an experienced Senior Litigation
Paralegal for its Philadelphia office.
Position Summary
Paralegals should strive to
perform high-quality work, both billable and non-billable, for the benefit of
our clients and the support of our attorneys. We expect our paralegals to
provide a high level of expertise in assisting clients and attorneys while
managing a busy case and/or matter load. Paralegals are generally expected to
record 1500 or more billable hours during the performance year.
Primary Responsibilities
- Coordinate
case load, deadlines, and client engagement requirements for the firm’s
work with large national clients for which we simultaneously handle many
matters
- Prepare
status reports
- Effectively obtain
and manage client documents, including electronic data, and determine potential existence of documents that may be relevant to each case.
- Effectively
draft for attorney review: removal documents, certificates of interested
parties, initial disclosures, certain motions and orders, scheduling
orders, deposition notices, affidavits and declarations, discovery and
responses to discovery, settlement agreements, dismissal documents for
attorney review, etc.
- Assist
with legal briefing of motions, including cite checking, verifying deposition and other record citations
in the brief, assembling exhibits, and creating an appendix when needed.
- Consistently
and accurately identify and prepare all documents for production during
discovery phase of case, including Bates numbering and redacting
privileged and confidential information, using the appropriate systems to
manage production.
- Effectively
assist in preparation for trial including managing exhibits and all
evidentiary matters, witness lists, files and subpoenas, coordinates and
attends witness prep meetings; assists at trial.
- Conduct
online research and use the firm’s electronic resources efficiently and
effectively in conjunction with attorneys.
- Juggle
multiple assignments and/or deadlines for multiple firm attorneys while
maintaining a professional demeanor and timely seeks assistance when
needed.
- Review
and ensure accuracy of invoices from vendors, such as computer forensic or
e-discovery providers, and timely submit invoices for processing and
approval per firm policies.
Skills and Abilities
- Must
have 10+ years of experience as a litigation paralegal, preferably as part
of a large firm litigation team
- Able
to work in fast-paced environment and comfortable handling a docket with
multiple attorneys on multiple matters
- Attendance
& Punctuality: Be consistently
at work and on time; arrive at meetings and appointments on time; ensure
work responsibilities are covered when absent.
- Communication:
Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills; preferably have
experience with preparation of periodic reporting and matter tracking for
large clients with multiple matters.
- Customer
Service: Respond promptly to attorney and client requests for service and
assistance; meet commitments.
- Dependability:
Follow instructions; complete tasks on time; commit to the hours necessary
to complete assignments; work independently.

Professionalism:
Approach others in a tactful manner; treat others with respect; react well
under pressure.

Technical
Skills: Possess a high level of computer skills including Excel, PowerPoint and
Word; able to create and update charts, reports and trend analyses; experience
in e-discovery platforms including Relativity, RICOH On-Demand and; experience
coordinating with outside computer forensic service providers is a plus.
